Healthy Water Week 2022

Have you wondered how you can help keep Van Buren County’s water, land, and air healthy? If so, we hope you’ll join us at the Van Buren Conservation District’s “Healthy Water Week” event to be held from 9:00 AM – 3:30 PM Monday, August 1 through Friday, August 5 at the Van Buren Conservation District Office (USDA Center), 1035 E Michigan Ave., Paw Paw, MI 49079. MAEAP Fruit Field Day

The Van Buren Conservation District (VBCD) is holding a MAEAP Fruit Field Day for fruit growers on August 10th from 4:30 PM to 7:00 PM at Oxley Farms (29001 CR 358, Lawton, MI 49065). Attendees can expect free dinner and refreshments. The MAEAP Fruit Field Day brings together speakers from the VBCD who will discuss a wide range of topics concerning fruit farmers. Some topics that will be presented are the Michigan Agriculture Environmental Assurance Program (MAEAP), cover crops in fruit rows, Farm Bill cost-share opportunities, pesticide container recycling, and how to prevent the invasive species Spotted Lantern Fly. “By

We invite you and yours to our Annual Meeting, Director Election, & Summer Picnic on Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at 5:00 PM (with an optional tour of the fish hatchery at 4:30 PM)! Summer Education

This year, the VanBuren Conservation District is partnering with Wolf Lake State Fish Hatchery to provide an outdoor educational experience for children ages 4-10. This program will take place at Wolf Lake State Fish Hatchery and will utilize all that the hatchery has to offer including fishing, pond studies, various educational hikes, scavenger hunts, nature journaling and tours of the facility. Parents/guardians are required to attend for the entirety of the program and provide their own transportation. The event will be from 10am-12pm on June 22, June 29, July 13, and July 20. 2022 Food, Farm, & Fun Guide Now Available!

The Van Buren Conservation District has brought back a longtime favorite; the Food, Farm & Fun Guide. The 2022 Van Buren County Food, Farm & Fun Guide showcases our county’s agricultural and recreational scene – now in a new way! The guide still highlights our region’s local food vendors, recreational farm businesses, and greenhouses as well as local festivals, and as a new addition this year, it also includes public green spaces.
