Medium height (40-80′ tall) with tapering trunk, deciduous, soft needles (0.75-1″, 15-20 per bundle) change color and drop in fall. Horizontal branches with small cones (0.5-0.75″), likes wet soils in swamp/bog, also drier soils, sometimes in pure stands.
