white spruce (Picea glauca)

Medium to tall (40′-100′) with grayish brown, smooth to slightly scaly bark. Short (0.5-0.75″), stiff, pointy needles and slightly long and narrow cones (1.25-2.5″). Grows in many soil types, mostly well drained, sandy soils.
