Van Buren Conservation District

The mission of the Van Buren Conservation District is to promote the conservation of natural resources through partnerships, providing public education, demonstrations, and technical assistance while working together for future generations.

Board Meetings are open to the public. The regular board meeting schedule shall be set at the first meeting of the Board in the calendar year. Meetings start at 10:00 AM at the VBCD office (1035 E Michigan Ave., Paw Paw, MI 49079), unless otherwise noted.

Planting Trees for Clean Water – Fall 2026

Residents on six lakes in southwest Michigan are eligible to have trees and shrubs planted on their properties this fall! It’s all part of a grant project through the Van Buren Conservation District and Michigan Lakes and Streams Association. These plantings will reduce runoff, improve the quality of water in our lakes and streams, and provide valuable wildlife habitat. Accepting Nominations for Board Director – Due August 28

The Van Buren Conservation District is accepting nomination petitions to be on the ballot for the 2026 Board Directors Election. Candidates who are residents of the conservation district interested in being on the ballot must submit a nominating petition, signed by a minimum of five residents of the conservation district and signed by the candidate (circulator) at least 60 days before the Director Election. A resident is defined as a person of legal age to vote (18 years of age) who can demonstrate primary residence

Farmers, Join Us for the Regenerative Agriculture Road Show August 2026!

Join us for the Regenerative Ag Road Show! Date: Wednesday, August 19, 2026 Time: 8:45 AM – 3:00 PM Where: Starting out at Van Buren Conference Center (490 S Paw Paw St., Lawrence, MI 49064). We’ll get on a bus at the conference center to tour of four farms in Van Buren County. Hear directly from farmers about successes and challenges of their journey towards regenerative ag. See practices like cover crops, no-till, rotational grazing, pollinator strips, and more! Space is limited and advance registration
