The Van Buren Conservation District is accepting nomination petitions to be on the ballot for the 2026 Board Directors Election. Candidates who are residents of the conservation district interested in being on the ballot must submit a nominating petition, signed by a minimum of five residents of the conservation district and signed by the candidate (circulator) at least 60 days before the Annual Meeting & Director Election.
A resident is defined as a person of legal age to vote (18 years of age) who can demonstrate primary residence in the conservation district with one (1) piece of identification. A voter registration card, driver’s license, or other picture ID indicating a local address is acceptable. Alternatively, a tax bill in their name with a principal residence exemption listed on the bill can work. If proof of residency cannot be provided at the time of submitting a petition, that petition will be considered ineligible for the upcoming election.
The due date for completed Nominating Petitions and Certificates of Circulation is 4:30 PM on Monday, May 18, 2026.
In 2026, the Van Buren Conservation District Annual Meeting & Director Election will be held Friday, July 17, 2026 at 8:00 AM.
