We’ve all received it in some purchase or online order. We get a new appliance, a new electronic, or many other fragile items and there it is – big white blocks of Styrofoam™.
The past couple of years, we have been excited to provide foam recycling to our one-day Recycle Roundup collections. We’re even more excited to announce that we’re making it easy for you and our communities to access this awesome service! With our local waste and recycling drop-off centers we have partnered to offer foam recycling year-round, closer to you.
New in January 2026, there are five locations you can now recycle your foam throughout the year. As a reminder, be sure to check out the access requirements for each location.
Location stations now offering this service include:
- Bangor Township Waste & Recycling Center
- Bloomingdale Township Recycling Center
- Decatur Area Waste & Recycling Center
- Paw Paw Township Waste & Recycling Center
- South Haven/Geneva Transfer Station
Check out the hours and further details for each location by clicking here!
When recycling your materials keep in mind the following:
- Foam must be…
- Clean and dry
- Have a #6 recycling symbol
- Be collected in bags (if needed bags are available on-site)
- Not accepted…
- Packing peanuts
- Spray foam
- Insulation board
*Don’t forget to remove lids and straws from foam cups!
While each waste and recycling drop-off center services their own communities, Paw Paw Township Waste & Recycling Center is open to the public. They offer foam recycling for $3 per cubic yard (estimated by attendant) which is cheaper than throwing it away!
Access foam recycling year-round! Whether by drop-off center or through our Recycle Roundup collections, foam recycling services are available and more expanded than ever before. Get details on our Recycle Roundup events by clicking here.
