Paint Update

Properly caring for paint is important to reduce groundwater pollution, so it is necessary to think about how we get rid of our unwanted paint. Oil-based paint, stains, and varnishes are hazardous whether dried or liquid and should be taken to a household hazardous waste collection. Check out our collection events page on our website for Van Buren County collection details. Latex paint is not a hazardous waste! Join Us! Summer 2023 Naturalist Events

The Van Buren Conservation District is excited to announce our Naturalist Events with our partners. Join our naturalist during hikes and paddles! Learn about the world around you- plants, animals, insect, environments, and so much more. Ask questions, learn interest facts, and bask in the grandeur of the natural world about you. Summer Education 2023

This year, the Van Buren Conservation District is partnering with Wolf Lake State Fish Hatchery to provide an outdoor educational experience for children ages 4-10. This program will take place at Wolf Lake State Fish Hatchery and will utilize all that the hatchery has to offer including pond studies, various educational hikes, nature journaling and tours of the facility. Parents/guardians are required to attend for the entirety of the program and provide their own transportation. The event will be from 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM on June 29 and August 10. Grazing Workshop 2023 – Registration is Open

Join us for our Grazing Workshop, an educational event for local farmers, on 14 June 2023 from 9:00 AM – 12:30 PM. We will be at Windshadow Farm (24681 CR 681, Bangor, MI 49013). Topics will include reading your pastures, livestock grazing habitats, grazing the weeds, pasture management, programs & cost-share opportunities, and more. Registration and a light breakfast will be available starting at 8:30 AM. This event is free but please RSVP by June 7. Farming for the Future 2023 – Virtual Agenda

Farming for the Future is an annual educational event for local farmers and is a great opportunity to learn from agricultural specialists, educators, researchers, businesses, and other farmers. This year’s event on March 7, 2023 at the Van Buren Conference Center from 9:00 AM – 3:30 PM.

To all residents and landowners of Van Buren County, notice is hereby given that the Van Buren Conservation District’s regularly scheduled February 22, 2023 board meeting has been rescheduled. The meeting will be held March 1, 2023 at 10:00 AM at the Van Buren Conservation District office (1035 E Michigan Ave., Paw Paw, MI 49079).   The meeting agenda can be accessed at https://vanburencd.org/board-meetings-agendas.
