Description White cedar (Thuja occidentalis), also known as northern white cedar, is a slow-growing, small-to-medium sized evergreen tree. The tree is often in a column or conical shape with flat, dark-green foliage. This ornamental tree is often used in landscaping and in windbreaks. White cedar is shade tolerant but grows best in full to part sun. White cedar is excellent for wildlife habitat, especially birds.
